For nearly three decades, Ted Wernham has offered financial guidance to clients as President of Wernham Wealth Management Inc. in London, Ontario. In recognition of his achievements, the City of Biloxi, Mississippi, named Ted Wernham an Honorary Citizen.
Prior to the early 18th century, the ground where Biloxi stands was home to Native Americans. It was first colonized by French settlers, led by Pierre Le Moyne, Sieur d'Iberville. After his expedition arrived in February 1699, the French remained in control of the region encompassing Mississippi and Louisiana until 1763, when it ceded the land to the English. Sixteen years later, Spain became ruler of the area before its acquisition by the United States.
The year 1817 marked another important milestone in Biloxi's history, as Mississippi became an American state then. At the start of the Civil War, Mississippi joined the Confederacy. During Reconstruction, the city continued to grow, partly because of its proximity to the Mississippi River and partly because of its location on the Gulf Coast. By the end of the 19th century, it had earned the title Seafood Capital of the World, due to its many seafood factories and canneries. Today, Biloxi is known for numerous attractions, including the beach, its multiple hotels, popular casino resorts, and Keesler Air Force Base.
